Agrellite is a very rare mineral found in mafic, sodium-rich and silicon-poor igneous and metamorphic rocks. It is only found at a few locations including the Sheffield Lake complex, Kipawa River, Villedieu Township, Quebec, Canada; the Wausau complex, Marathon County, Wisconsin, USA; the Dara-i-Pioz massif, Alai Range, Tien Shan, Tajikistan; the Murun massif, southwest of Olekminsk, Yakutia, Russia.
The picture, figure 1, was taken under a short wave ultra-violet lamp, the purplish-pink mineral is agrellite although the purplish-violet mineral is likely albite. This specimen is from Kipawa Complex, Sheffield Lake, Villedieu Township, Temiscaminque, Quebec, Canada and was collected in 09/2008.

The IR reflectance spectrum (figure 2) was acquired from a polished fragment detached from the block pictured in figure 1.

Photoluminescence spectroscopy:
The photoluminescence spectrum (figure 3) was acquired with a 405 nm excitation laser. The spectrum shows REE (Rare Earth Elements) luminescence. Detailed peak assignment is to be defined.
